" Silenci si us plau "
Synopsis
Genre: fiction. Frida lives shut away in celluloid, in a silent film, and this world asphyxiates her. One day a projectionist, revising his moviola in the film, sees her desperation and decides to let her go out to the real world, with the condition that this will be for only 24 hours. Frida then begins to discover a new environment, a new atmosphere where she gets to hear the sounds of the big city and turn them into music. She will then try to sing.
Comments by the composer
This was a movie that, although it seems paradoxical, implied a great creative challenge for me. The point is that the director did not want to use music in a conventional way, but wanted the music to emerge from the character herself. Indeed he wanted her to create the music; very realistic music that would emerge from the handling of objects or from physical movements, getting to a recognizable urban tone. The application was therefore substantially with source music and synchronous. There was also a scene in which I was involved as an actor, cleaning some windows and simulating an exercise of scratching. It gave more rhythm to what was a much-choreographed sequence.
The film began with a vaudeville tune playing in a radio and concluded with another cabaret tune reinforced by trumpet. Between these two songs, acts of tap intertwined with rhythmic urban sounds, as mentioned above.
